The Cabinet of Ministers has extended a so-called adaptive quarantine in Ukraine until March 31, 2022, as it believes this will help combat the COVID-19 pandemic and protect human health as effectively as possible.

According to Ukrinform, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal wrote this on his Facebook page, commenting on the government's decision.

"An adaptive quarantine has been extended until March 31, 2022. This will help to fight the pandemic as effectively as possible and protect human health. All rules regarding access to public places with COVID certificates, wearing masks and social distancing remain in force," Shmyhal wrote.

He also said that more than 40% of adult Ukrainians have been vaccinated for COVID-19. He believes that vaccination can stop the pandemic. "At the same time, until the vaccination rate in Ukraine reaches 70% of the adult population, we must continue to comply with established quarantine restrictions," he added.

Shmyhal said at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on Wednesday, December 15, that the government had extended the adaptive quarantine until March 31, 2022.

Since the beginning of the vaccination campaign, 14,221,538 people have been vaccinated in Ukraine, and 12,640,221 have been fully inoculated. A total of 26,861,757 COVID-19 jabs have been given in Ukraine so far.
