Ukraine set to vaccinate 17M citizens by year-end - Memo with IMF

Ukrainian authorities will seek to ensure vaccination against COVID-19 for at least 17 million citizens by the end of this year.

That’s according to the Memorandum of Economic and Financial Policies, signed by Ukraine and its key lender, the International Monetary Fund, released by the IMF press service on Wednesday, November 24, Ukrinform reports.

"In recognition that vaccination efforts are key to sustaining economic recovery, we have secured sufficient vaccine supply and aim to vaccinate at least 17 million people by end-2021," the document said.

It is emphasized that Ukraine's policy "will continue to focus on addressing the economic and health crisis caused by COVID-19.”

At the same time, it is set to maintain macroeconomic and financial stability, reducing vulnerabilities, and tackling key obstacles to private investment.

As reported, according to the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, as of November 24, there are about 13 million people in the country vaccinated for COVID-19. Of these, more than 10.2 million have already received two vaccine shots.
