Ukraine imports goods worth USD 650,000 to combat COVID-19 in Jan-Jul 2021

"For seven months of 2021, Ukraine imported goods worth almost USD 650,000 and weighing more than 10,000 tonnes to combat COVID-19," the report reads.

The State Customs Service notes that operations on imports of such goods into the customs territory of Ukraine or operations on their delivery to the customs territory of Ukraine are exempt from VAT.

The list of goods approved by the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated March 20, 2020 includes in particular medicines, immunobiological drugs, food products for special medical purposes, disinfectants, antiseptics and disinfection equipment, as well as medical devices, medical equipment and others goods necessary for the implementation of measures aimed at preventing the occurrence, spread, localization and elimination of outbreaks of COVID-19.

As Ukrinform reported, on July 22, 2021, President Volodymyr Zelensky signed the Law “On Amendments to Section X “Final and Transitional Provisions” of the Law of Ukraine “On Public Procurement” (excluding the possibility of procurement without the use of an electronic procurement system)” No. 1599-IX, which was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on July 1 and entered into force on July 24.

In accordance with the law, the approach to the procurement of goods, works and services necessary for the implementation of measures to prevent the occurrence and spread of COVID-19 has been changed for the period of quarantine established by the Cabinet of Ministers.
