A rally against criminal activity of Russia’s Wagner private military company across Africa took place outside the Embassy of the Republic of Sudan in Ukraine.

The action, entitled “PMC Wagner. Kremlin’s dirty hands” was held by the "Agency for the Development of Democracy and Information Freedoms" nonprofit, as reported by its head, Yuriy Fedorenko.

Dozens of protesters spoke up against the Kremlin's increased presence in Africa, where one of the main means of influence is the so-called Wagner's PMC, established by the Kremlin.

“Attempts to influence African self-identification through any opportunity, including military, are aimed at reducing the influence of Western democracies on the African continent, thus, creating perfect grounds for increasing dependence on the Russian government through economic contracts or political obligations of Kremlin-supported dictatorial regimes," Fedorenko said.

According to the protesters, Sudan is of great geostrategic importance for Russia on the African continent in terms of energy, exploration, and uranium mining. This attitude is also reinforced by Sudan's statements about U.S. “aggressive actions,” to fight which the Sudanese authorities need military assistance from Russia.

"We have high hopes that the international democratic community will force the Sudanese government not to enter into any agreements with the Kremlin, turning Sudan into a center of Putin's aggressive interests and a sponsor of international tensions," said Fedorenko, head of the NGO.

According to protesters, by providing military aid to the Sudanese government, Moscow intends to increase its influence not only on the country but also on Africa as a whole.

The participants of the rally aimed to draw public attention to the use of illegal methods by the Russian Federation to achieve their geopolitical goals in the international arena.

The NGO reminded that Russian PMCs are directly involved in hostilities, escorting civilian ships, conducting security audits of oil and gas offshore drills, engaging in sabotage operations, logistics, and aerial reconnaissance, as well as providing physical protection services for certain sites in the interests of Russian oligarchs, most of whom are the PMC’s actual or nominal owners.

It should be recalled that Wagner PMC, a Russian mercenary military organization founded in 2013, took part in hostilities in a number of conflicts, including in Donbas on Russia's side, in Syria on the side of Russia-friendly Assad regime, as well as in Sudan.
