Lithuania sends to Ukraine first batch of donated vaccine

Lithuania has sent to Ukraine the first 54,000 doses of Vaxzevria (AstraZeneca) coronavirus vaccine - out of 131,000 doses that it plans to donate, according to a report posted on the website of the Lithuanian national public broadcaster LRT.
“We consider it our duty to help countries like Ukraine that do not receive regular supplies of COVID-19 vaccine. The government made the decision to support Ukraine with vaccines last week,” the report reads.
In general, Lithuania plans to donate 131,000 doses of vaccine to Ukraine. The remaining 77,000 doses will be sent in the next few weeks.
Lithuania itself receives new batches of vaccine weekly.
As Ukrinform reported, more than 500,000 doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine, donated by Denmark, arrived in Ukraine on August 4.
