Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal believes that Ukrainian communities abroad are a driving force for the promotion and development of our culture throughout the world.

He wrote about this on Telegram after visiting a monument to Ukrainian poet Lesya Ukrainka in the city of Telavi in Georgia, Ukrinform reports.

"We spoke with Ukrainians living in Georgia. I always emphasize that Ukrainian communities abroad are a driving force for the promotion and development of our culture in the world," Shmyhal wrote.

He stressed that Lesya Ukrainka is a prominent figure in world literature. She spent the last years of her life in Georgia.

Earlier, the prime minister laid flowers at the Monument of Heroes who died in the struggle for Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity in Tbilisi.

Shmyhal was on an official visit to Georgia on June 2-4. The government delegation also included Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers Oleh Nemchinov and Minister of Culture and Information Policy Oleksandr Tkachenko.
