Ukraine has enough funds to vaccinate entire population – Shmyhal

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal states that enough funds have been allocated from the state budget to provide Ukraine with a sufficient amount of coronavirus vaccines.

He said this at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Public Health, Medical Assistance and Medical Insurance, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“At the moment, according to the Ministry of Health, there are enough funds to provide and bring to Ukraine a sufficient amount of vaccines in accordance with the National Vaccination Plan approved by the government,” Shmyhal said.

The PM noted that the authorities are in talks with leaders of countries where vaccines are produced and with chief executives of manufacturing companies.

As Ukrinform reported, on April 15, the Cabinet of Ministers allocated an additional UAH 6.5 billion for the purchase of vaccines against coronavirus.

The COVID-19 vaccination campaign in Ukraine began on February 24, 2021. CoviShield vaccine, developed by Oxford University and AstraZeneca, Sinovac Biotech’s CoronaVac, Pfizer vaccine, SKBio vaccine created by Oxford University and AstraZeneca are registered and used in Ukraine.
