President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has invited his Polish counterpart Andrzej Duda and his wife to take part in the first Crimean Platform summit.

He said this during a joint briefing with the Polish leader in Warsaw on May 3, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"I did invite him [the President of Poland to the Crimean Platform summit]. Mr. President said that he would come, and I am very much looking forward to meeting him and the First Lady of Poland at the first Crimean Platform summit in the days of the 30th anniversary of our independence, independence of Ukraine. It will also be very important for us, because this will be the first important summit with the participation of our friends and partners, the summit that is associated with the de-occupation of the Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea," Zelensky stressed.

The Crimean Platform is a new consultative and coordination format initiated by Ukraine to improve the efficiency of the international response to the occupation of Crimea, respond to growing security challenges, step up international pressure on Russia, prevent further human rights violations, protect victims of the occupation regime and to achieve the de-occupation of Crimea. Ukraine actively invites other states to join this international initiative.

The first Crimean Platform summit is scheduled for August 23, 2021.

On May 3, the presidents of Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia met in Warsaw to celebrate the 230th anniversary of the adoption of the 3 May Constitution. The presidents of the five countries signed a joint declaration, which emphasizes that the solidarity of nations under current threats to common security is one of the cornerstones of peace, stability, development, prosperity and resilience.
