Ukraine remembers the sacrifice and courage of the liquidators who worked to limit the consequences of the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant disaster, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal wrote on his Telegram channel after taking part in the opening of the exhibition "Chornobyl. Journey".

"Ukraine remembers the sacrifice and courage of these people. Together with the President of Ukraine and the IAEA Director General, we have opened the multimedia exhibition “Chornobyl. Journey". The exhibition tells about the accident itself, the stories of people whose fates are connected with the events of April 26, 1986, and about the fate and future of Chornobyl,” Shmyhal wrote.

He stressed that heroism has no period of limitation.

“Today we thank those who sacrificed their health and honor the memory of those who gave their lives to eliminate the consequences of the accident," the prime minister added.

The International Chornobyl Disaster Remembrance Day is marked today, April 26.
