Ukrinform among five Ukrainian media outlets with highest level of compliance with standards

The monitoring results are published on the IMI website.

Online media outlets Suspilne, Dzerkalo Tyzhnia, Ukrayinska Pravda, Bukvy and Ukrinform showed the highest level of compliance with the standards in the first quarter of 2021 (over 96% of media materials written without violating professional standards).

It is noted that the worst indicators of compliance with professional standards are consistently demonstrated by the website Politeka, on which only 18% of media materials did not contain gross violations of basic standards of professional journalism (and all of them were republications from other media).

The research showed that compliance with professional standards in the first quarter of 2021 as a whole deteriorated by 3.5% compared to the last quarter of 2020. The largest drop (2%) was recorded in the standard of differentiating between facts and comments.

Adherence to the standard of balance of opinions practically did not change compared to the previous monitoring period, the decline was 0.5%.

Online media outlets Suspilne and Dzerkalo Tyzhnia did not violate this standard.

The biggest number of unbalanced news reports was published on Politeka and Segodnya websites.

The level of accuracy standard decreased by 1% compared to the previous monitoring period. Online media outlets Novoye Vremya, Channel 24, RBC-Ukraine, Censor, Ukrayinska Pravda, Bukvy, and Ukrinform did not violate the accuracy standard.

Politeka and Strana outlets showed the lowest level of accuracy.
