Stepanov hopes India will resume vaccine export in April

Ukrainian Health Minister Maksym Stepanov believes that the delay in the delivery of the COVID-19 vaccine to Ukraine from India will not last long.

He said this on the air of a TV show on the 1+1 TV channel on Thursday evening, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“We see that there is a corresponding problem, and we are monitoring the political developments that are taking place in India regarding the fact that they left [vaccines] for everyone without exception. But I think this delay will not last long. It seems to me that in early April we will get permission and ... start receiving [vaccines from India]. I look at it optimistically,” Stepanov said.

As reported, due to the increased incidence rate of COVID-19, India has suspended the Oxford/AstraZeneca (Covishield) coronavirus vaccine export in order to meet domestic demand for the drug.

On March 25, Health Minister Maksym Stepanov said that Ukraine was using every opportunity to obtain permission from the Government of India for COVID-19 vaccine export.
