Kyiv records growth in number of people ill with flu and ARVI

Almost 15,000 cases of influenza and acute respiratory viral infection (ARVI) have been recorded in the city of Kyiv over the past week, according to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.
"The number of patients with influenza and ARVI are increasing in the capital. According to the Kyiv City Laboratory Center of the Health Ministry of Ukraine, almost 15,000 patients were registered in Kyiv last week, including 8,500 adults and more than 6,000 children," Klitschko said at a briefing on March 5, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.
According to Klitschko, school-aged children total 52% of all ill children.
He added that 754 people with influenza and ARVI were hospitalized last week, including 80 children.
As reported by Ukrinform, a total of 10,155 new coronavirus cases have been recorded in Ukraine in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 1,384,917.
