"Ukraine has concluded non-disclosure agreements with six manufacturers of COVID-19 vaccines that are registered in the civilized world. Two of them, Pfizer and AstraZeneca, received permission to be used in Ukraine. The rest will be [registered] as these companies submit documents. That is, it is impossible to register a vaccine before a company submits documents for registration,” Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said during a press conference dedicated to the results of the year of the Government’s activities under his chairmanship, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
He explained that due to huge competition between vaccine manufacturers, they had a very careful approach to commercial classified information.
"Everyone signs the NDA agreements, i.e. neither the price nor the technical and scientific data are subject to disclosure by the governments of these countries. And accordingly, the documentation is submitted in the last days, when we already know that a batch of vaccine from one or another manufacturer will come to us, so a package of documents is handed over for registration in Ukraine 5-7 days before,” Shmyhal said.
As reported, the Government expects 10 million Ukrainian citizens to get vaccinated against COVID-19 in 2021. At the same time, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal does not rule out changes in the stages of the national COVID-19 vaccination campaign in terms of determining priority groups.
COVID-19 vaccination campaign began in Ukraine on February 24. As of March 4, 9,568 people have been already vaccinated against COVID-19. They all received the first dose of the Covishield vaccine, developed by Oxford / AstraZeneca and produced at the Serum Institute.
