Ukraine, HBO to discuss creation of tourist attraction in Chornobyl zone

"Our group starts negotiations with HBO. Let's hope that they will be interested in some offline attraction [in the Chornobyl zone]. It will be not an amusement park, but some location from HBO. Of course, it will attract many foreign tourists," Deputy Head of the President’s Office Kyrylo Tymoshenko said at a briefing within the All-Ukrainian Forum "Ukraine 30. Infrastructure", an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

As reported, HBO released the Chernobyl television miniseries in 2019. The events unfold after the explosion of the Chornobyl nuclear power plant reactor in 1986.

Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine Oleksandr Tkachenko stated that the 35th anniversary of the Chornobyl disaster would mark the beginning of a major program to memorialize the area.

On February 19, the official logo of the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone was presented.
