Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said this at a conference call on preventing the spread of coronavirus, which was chaired by President Volodymyr Zelensky, Ukrinform reports referring to the president’s press service.
According to the Prime Minister, the number of active cases declined in Ukraine during the past week. As of today, 129,000 coronavirus patients have been recorded across the country.
Shmyhal noted that the number of COVID-19 deaths and hospitalizations also decreased.
At the same time, the Prime Minister stressed that an extremely high incidence rate is observed in Ivano-Frankivsk region. In particular, bed occupancy rate at COVID-19 designated hospitals exceeds 90% in many populated areas of Prykarpattia.
"Ivano-Frankivsk region has recorded the highest incidence rate of COVID-19 per 100,000 population and the second highest level of occupied beds - 73% on average. Some 621 people have fallen ill over the past day. At the same time, there are 9,339 active patients in the region, which is higher than in the city of Kyiv,” Shmyhal said.
In this regard, President Zelensky stressed the need to clarify in detail the situation in Prykarpattia and to deploy additional beds if necessary.
As reported by Ukrinform, a total of 1,276,618 COVID-19 cases were registered in Ukraine on February 16, including 3,143 new cases in the past 24 hours.
