COVID-19 vaccination in Ukraine will begin in mid-February - Ivashchenko

The supply of COVID-19 vaccines to Ukraine under the COVAX scheme will begin in mid-February, according to Ukrainian Deputy Health Minister Ihor Ivashchenko.

"Ukraine will start the vaccination in February. It will receive vaccines in two weeks. Thanks to the joint efforts of the Health Ministry, the government and the president, our country was included in the list of countries to which the global COVAX initiative will provide vaccines against COVID-19 within the first wave of distribution. For the beginning of the vaccination, Ukraine has already confirmed the receipt of 117,000 doses of the vaccine produced by Pfizer-BioNTech. The supply of the vaccine will start in two weeks, in mid-February," Ivashchenko said at a briefing on Monday.

According to him, COVAX has confirmed to the Health Ministry the supply of 2.1 million to 3.7 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine during the first or second quarter of 2021.

A total of 2,030 new coronavirus cases were recorded in Ukraine On January 31, bringing the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 1,221,485.
