
Ukraine confirms 4,846 new COVID-19 cases
"Some 4,846 new cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) have been recorded in Ukraine as of January 9, 2021. In particular, 168 children and 176 health workers contracted COVID-19," Health Minister Maksym Stepanov posted on Facebook.
According to him, 80 deaths, 7,961 recoveries and 2,411 hospitalizations were registered in Ukraine on January 8. In addition, 26,494 coronavirus tests, including 18,635 PCR (polymerase chain reaction) tests and 7,859 ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) tests, were performed in Ukraine in the past 24 hours.
Since the beginning of the pandemic in Ukraine, 19,668 deaths and 786,306 recoveries have been recorded and 5,752,190 PCR tests have been performed.
The highest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases over the past day was registered in Dnipropetrovsk region (471), Zaporizhzhia region (456), Mykolaiv region (416), Kyiv region (375) and Cherkasy region (353).
