JSC Ukrzaliznytsia, Ukraine's state rail operator, informs that long-distance and suburban trains will operate as usual during the coronavirus lockdown in Ukraine from January 8 to January 24, 2021.

“Ukrzaliznytsia will provide all anti-epidemic measures for the safety of passengers when traveling. We urge passengers to wear face masks when traveling and use antiseptics," the company’s press service reported.

This year, Ukrzaliznytsia has designated 17 additional trains to transport passengers during the winter holidays. The carrier took into account the wishes of passengers and assigned trains in the most popular directions.

Ukrzaliznytsia reported that more than 5,400 passengers celebrated the New Year en route; 60 passenger trains were running on New Year’s Day.

As reported by Ukrinform, a total of 1,083,585 coronavirus cases were recorded in Ukraine on January 5, including 5,334 new COVID-19 cases registered in the past 24 hours.
