Number of COVID-19 patients in Ukrainian hospitals exceeds 22,800

There are currently more than 22,800 patients with or suspected coronavirus disease in healthcare institutions across Ukraine, according to Health Minister Maksym Stepanov.

The health minister said this at a briefing on January 4, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

In particular, according to Stepanov, 12,318 people with COVID-19 were hospitalized in Ukraine last week, compared with 15,907 hospitalizations during the week before.

He also informed about a decrease in the number of new coronavirus cases recorded last week.

“Last week, 47,877 cases of coronavirus disease were recorded. During the previous week, this figure was 59, 381," he said.

As reported by Ukrinform, a total of 1,078,251 coronavirus cases were recorded in Ukraine on January 4, including 4,158 new COVID-19 cases registered in the past 24 hours.
