Ukraine reports 5,038 new COVID-19 cases

Ukraine has recorded 1,069,517 laboratory confirmed COVID-19 cases as of January 2, Health Minister Maksym Stepanov wrote on Facebook.

"Some 5,038 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Ukraine as of January 2, 2021. In particular, 182 children and 131 health workers were infected," Stepanov said.

According to the minister, 2,606 recoveries and 51 deaths were recorded in Ukraine on January 1.

Stepanov added that 17,930 coronavirus tests, including 14,975 PCR (polymerase chain reaction) tests and 2,955 ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) tests, had been performed in the past 24 hours.
