Ukraine reports 7,709 new COVID-19 cases

A total of 7,709 new coronavirus cases have been recorded in Ukraine in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 1.019,876.

"Some 7,709 new coronavirus cases have been recorded in Ukraine as of December 26, 2020. In particular, 366 children and 198 health workers were infected," Health Minister Maksym Stepanov posted on Facebook.

As noted, 121 patients died from COVID-19, 5,145 patients recovered and 2,888 people were hospitalized in Ukraine on December 25.

Stepanov informed that 31,482 coronavirus tests, including 24,621 PCR (polymerase chain reaction) tests and 6,861 ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) tests, had been performed in Ukraine in the past 24 hours.

Since the pandemic started, 651,917 recoveries and 17,702 deaths have been registered in Ukraine.

Over the past day, the highest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases was registered in Dnipropetrovsk region (676), Lviv region (676), Kyiv region (568), Odesa region (513), and Zaporizhzhia region (445).
