"75 million people worldwide have fallen ill, and nearly 1 million 700 thousand people worldwide have died from complications related to the disease. In Ukraine, the total number of confirmed cases will reach 1 million by the end of the year," Shmyhal said during an hour of questions to the government in the Verkhovna Rada on Friday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
According to him, the government has a comprehensive vision for countering the pandemic – “from anti-crisis steps here and now to a clear plan for the upcoming months and years”.
Shmyhal has reminded that the Cabinet of Ministers will introduce strengthened quarantine measures from January 9, increase the number of coronavirus tests, and then provide free vaccines to certain groups of the population.
According to him, the government has been working for several months to improve the system of supervision over the compliance with self-isolation rules. The prime minister has also added that the government is working to strengthen the capacity of the healthcare system to fight the spread of COVID-19.
