Health Ministry: Number of COVID-19 hospitalizations decreased in past week

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations has decreased significantly in Ukraine in the past week.

Health Minister Maksym Stepanov said about this at a briefing on December 14, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Last week, a total of 78,719 coronavirus cases were confirmed, which is less than the week before, when 279,189 cases were recorded. Last week, 244,391 PCR tests were performed, which is less than the week before. There are currently 27,393 [coronavirus] patients in hospitals, compared to 28,163 patients during the week before,” said Stepanov.

The health minister explained that the number of conducted COVID-19 tests decreased significantly  due to a reduction in requests for testing from people with suspected coronavirus disease.

As reported by Ukrinform, a total of 900,666 COVID-19 cases were laboratory confirmed in Ukraine on December 14, including 6,451 new cases reported in the past 24 hours.
