Health Minister Maksym Stepanov has said that the government should project UAH 15.1 billion in the state budget for the vaccination of the population against COVID-19.

He stated this during an hour of questions to the government in the Verkhovna Rada, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“According to estimations and preliminary agreements, we will receive the vaccine in the amount of 8 million doses. All purchases will be carried out through the state enterprise Medical Procurement of Ukraine. According to the calculations of the Health Ministry, the required amount projected in the budget for vaccination of the population against COVID-19 is UAH 15.1 billion. These calculations are transparent and clear. We have the preliminary cost of the vaccine, the number of people we have to vaccinate using the funds from the state budget,” said Stepanov.

The health minister noted that groups that should be prioritized for COVID-19 vaccination include medical workers, teachers, employees of the National Police, as well as people over 60 years of age and persons whose state of health makes them particularly at risk.
