Number of COVID-19 patients in Ukrainian hospitals reaches almost 28 thousand

There are currently 27,792 patients with or suspected coronavirus disease in healthcare institutions across Ukraine, according to Health Minister Maksym Stepanov.

“The number of beds designated for the treatment of COVID-19 patients in the country totals 53,445 beds, with 27,792 patients recorded in hospitals this morning. Bed occupancy is 52%,” Stepanov said at a briefing on November 23, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

According to the minister, 25,996 beds are equipped to provide oxygen to coronavirus patients. He has reminded that the Health Ministry is currently considering ways to increase the number of beds for COVID-19 patients to 90,000.

As of November 23, 635,689 COVID-19 cases were laboratory confirmed in Ukraine, including 10,945 cases recorded during the previous day.
