Eight schools, five kindergartens in Kyiv closed due to COVID-19 cases

Eight schools in Kyiv city have been closed for quarantine due to confirmed coronavirus cases among teachers, according to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.

“As of today, 8 schools in the city are closed for quarantine.  A total of 943 classes in 261 schools have been transferred to distance learning. In total, 1,080 pupils in Kyiv are sick with coronavirus. More than 740 teachers are also ill,” he said at a briefing on November 20, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

In addition, 171 groups in 132 kindergartens have been temporarily closed due to coronavirus cases. Five kindergartens have been shut down for quarantine.

As of November 20, Ukraine reported 598,085 laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 14,575 new cases recorded in the past 24 hours.
