Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has said that the number of COVID-19 cases may rise to 20,000 per day by the end of this year.

He said this at a press conference in Kyiv on Thursday, November 5, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Unfortunately, our forecasts show that in the current situation, there will be a rapid increase in COVID-19 cases by the end of the year. By the end of the month, we can get 15,000 per day, it is no longer a secret ... By the end of the year, this figure may reach 20,000 per day," Shmyhal said.

The PM noted that the Ukrainian medical system is preparing for such a challenge and is ready to cope with it.

In addition, Shmyhal called on Ukrainians to comply with quarantine rules.

As of November 5, 430,467 COVID-19 cases were laboratory confirmed in Ukraine, including 9,850 cases recorded during the previous day.
