October becomes warmest in Kyiv in past 140 years

October 2020 has turned out to be the warmest in Kyiv since 1881, the Central Geophysical Observatory named after Borys Sreznevskyi has reported on its Facebook page.  

October 4 was the warmest day in Kyiv, when the maximum air temperature in the afternoon reached +22.0°С. The coldest day was observed on October 21, when the air temperature in the morning decreased to +2.5 °C.

In addition, the temperature did not drop below +13.4 °C on the night of October 9, which is 0.1°C above the previous air temperature maximum recorded in 1889.

The observatory noted that this year meteorological summer for the first time lasted so long in Kyiv city, until October 14.

Four temperature records were set in Kyiv in October 2020.
