Number of COVID-19 patients in hospitals exceeds 25 thousand – Stepanov

More than 25 thousand people are staying in Ukrainian healthcare institutions intended for the treatment of COVID-19 patients, according to Health Minister Maksym Stepanov.

"As of this morning, 25,424 beds in healthcare institutions are occupied by patients [with coronavirus]. These are people with confirmed COVID-19 or people with clinical symptoms. All these people have moderate or severe disease," Stepanov said at a press briefing on October 28, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

According to the health minister, 1,100 people with COVID-19 have been hospitalized in the past 24 hours. Ukraine has reported 165 lethal cases and 306 recoveries over the past day.

In total, 21,143 children and 22,287 health workers have tested positive for coronavirus since the start of the pandemic, he added.

As reported, 363,075 COVID-19 cases were laboratory confirmed in Ukraine as of October 28, including 7,474 cases recorded during the previous day.
