Ukraine plans to perform 75,000 PCR tests per day by year-end

"To date, we have reached almost 40,000 tests [per day]. Taking into account our capabilities and according to the plan we have, we are to reach 50 thousand tests per day by mid-November and 75 thousand tests per day by the end of the year," Health Minister of Ukraine Maksym Stepanov said at a briefing, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

He noted that the creation of a PCR laboratory required premises, equipment, and trained staff. According to him, the study of PCR tests requires skills that only specialists have. "At the same time, we train people, purchase equipment, and increase the number of tests accordingly," Stepanov said.

The minister added that a total of 56,710 tests for coronavirus infection had been performed over the past day, including 33,361 PCR tests and 23,349 EIA tests.

As of the morning of October 27, Ukraine has reported 355,601 coronavirus cases, including 6,677 new cases recorded over the past day.
