Minister Stepanov: Ukraine should resume creation and production of vaccines

The process of creation and production of vaccines needs to be resumed in Ukraine.

"We should get rid of the inferiority complex. I believe in Ukrainian scientists, in Ukrainian doctors, in our developments. Of course, for them to happen, we need to pay the biggest possible attention to our science, scientists, and our doctors. We have a very simple goal: we want to completely resume production and creation of vaccines in Ukraine," Health Minister of Ukraine Maksym Stepanov said at a briefing, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

He reminded that results of the pre-clinical phase of the study of Ukraine’s original COVID-19 vaccine had been presented on Tuesday. According to the minister, the pre-clinical phase lasted six months and the vaccine is rather promising.

Stepanov added that the clinical phase would begin with the full support of the state.

As of October 22, Ukraine has reported 322,879 laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 7,053 new coronavirus cases recorded in the past 24 hours.
