Number of marriages in Ukraine during quarantine decreased by almost a third

The number of marriages registered in Ukraine during the quarantine period in 2020 decreased by almost a third compared to the same period in 2019, Radio Svoboda reports with reference to data provided by the Justice Ministry of Ukraine.

In particular, the number of marriages totalled 145,855 between March 12, 2020 and October 10, 2020, compared to 107,069 in the corresponding period last year.

The number of divorces also decreased. Between March 12, 2020 and October 10, 2020, the number of divorce records amounted to 21,904, compared to 16,475 in the corresponding period last year.

As reported by Ukrinform, at an extraordinary meeting on October 13, the Government of Ukraine decided to extend the adaptive quarantine in the country until December 31.
