Some 865 people with COVID-19 hospitalized in Ukraine in past 24 hours – Stepanov

Some 865 people with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 have been hospitalized in Ukraine in the past 24 hours, according to Health Minister Maksym Stepanov.

“We have a challenging situation with beds, with hospitalizations. In the past 24 hours, 865 people have been hospitalized. As of today’s morning, a total of 21,277 beds are occupied in the country,” Stepanov said at a press briefing on October 13, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

According to the minister, the people hospitalized over the course of the past day include patients with suspected or confirmed COVID-19. He has noted that only patients with moderate and severe disease are hospitalized.

Stepanov called on Ukrainians to follow safety rules:  social distancing measures, wearing face masks and using antiseptics.

As reported by Ukrinform, some 270,587 COVID-19 cases were confirmed in Ukraine as of October 13, including 5,133 new cases recorded on October 12.
