Some 694 children adopted in Ukraine since year-start

Between January-August 2020, 694 orphans and children deprived of parental care were adopted in Ukraine, according to the website of the Social Policy Ministry.

"During the first eight months of this year, 694 orphans and children deprived of parental care were adopted in Ukraine, including 558 children adopted by Ukrainian citizens and 136 by foreigners. The priority of national adoption has been maintained, as Ukrainians adopt four times more children than foreigners,” reads the report.

At the same time, according to the ministry, more than 17,000 boys and girls of all ages, most of whom with siblings, are registered for adoption and are waiting for a loving family.

Overall, 23,814 orphans and children deprived of parental care have been adopted in the last 10 years, including 17,659 children adopted by Ukrainian citizens and 6,155 by foreigners.
