Kyiv city, 19 regions not ready to ease lockdown measures – Health Ministry

The city of Kyiv and 19 regions in Ukraine do not meet all the necessary criteria for easing quarantine measures introduced to prevent the spread of COVID-19, according to data provided by the Health Ministry on September 14.

The incidence of COVID-19 in the city of Kyiv over the past 14 days was 136.9 per 100,000 population. The occupancy of beds in health facilities in the capital during the past five days was 50.6%

Among the regions that are not ready to ease lockdown measures are Vinnytsia region (55.3 per 100,000 population), Volyn region (85.6), Zhytomyr region (90.4), Zakarpattia region (92.5), Zaporizhzhia region (48), Ivano-Frankivsk region (159.5), Kyiv region (72.5), Luhansk region (42.4), Lviv region (101.6), Mykolaiv region (71.6), Odesa region (101.3), Rivne region (119.3), Sumy region (97.1), Ternopil region (310.8), Kharkiv region (142.6), Khmelnytskyi region (122.1), Cherkasy region (84.8), Chernivtsi region 216.6), and Chernihiv region (90.7).

The Health Ministry explains that regions with high prevalence of COVID-19 are considered to be regions that have one of the following indicators: the occupancy of beds in health facilities intended for hospitalization of patients with confirmed COVID-19 exceeds 50%; the average number of PCR and ELISA tests conducted during the past seven days is less than 24 per 100,000 population; 14-day cumulative number of COVID-19 cases per 100,000 population exceeds the basic incidence rate of the disease.

As of September 14, Ukraine reported 156,797 laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 2,462 new cases recorded in the course of the previous day.
