Health minister: Thirty thousand PCR tests should be performed in Ukraine a day

“We have a task to reach the level of 30,000 PCR tests performed a day by September 15. To date, laboratory facilities allow us to do this,” Health Minister Maksym Stepanov said during a conference call with the heads of healthcare departments of regional state administrations, regional laboratory centers, and the heads of regional headquarters for emergency response related to the spread of COVID-19, the Ministry of Health posted on Facebook.

As of August 19, the laboratories of all forms of ownership performed 1,256,698 PCR tests and 860,388 EIA tests, the minister said.

The biggest number of laboratory researches was performed in Kyiv city, Lviv and Odesa regions; the fewest - in Luhansk (11,035), Mykolaiv (17,494) and Poltava (21,924) regions.

As of August 21, Ukraine has reported 100,643 laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases including 2,106 new cases recorded over the past 24 hours.
