Belarusian border guards have detained a Ukrainian citizen, who is wanted by Russia, the State Border Committee of Belarus has reported.

According to the report, on August 18, border guards detained a 34-year-old passenger at the Nova Huta checkpoint while registering a Kyiv-Minsk bus for entry into Belarus.

"During passport control, it turned out that the man was on the interstate wanted list in the CIS countries (initiated by the Russian Interior Ministry). In addition, a small-caliber revolver and a knife with an 18-cm-long blade were found in his personal belongings," the report said.

"He was handed over to police in the prescribed manner," the report reads.
