Most citizens think Ukrainian should be only state language

Ukrinform
Almost two-thirds of Ukrainians believe that Ukrainian should be the only state and official language in their country, according to a joint survey conducted by the Socis Center and the Razumkov Center.

When asked how the Ukrainian and Russian languages should coexist in Ukraine, 64.5% of respondents said that Ukrainian should be the only state and official language, and Russian can be used freely. Some 17.7% of Ukrainians believe that Ukrainian should be the state language, and Russian may be the official language in some regions. Another 15.2% hold the opinion that there should be two official languages in Ukraine - Ukrainian and Russian.

The survey entitled "Socio-political situation in Ukraine" was conducted by the Socis Center and the Razumkov Center on July 21-28, 2020. The poll surveyed the adult population of Ukraine, except for non-government-controlled areas of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and parts of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. A total of 4,000 respondents over the age of 18 were interviewed.
