Some 16 out of 56 Ukrainians, who were injured in the explosion in Beirut or whose houses were damaged, have already received one-time payment from Ukraine's Embassy in Lebanon.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said this at an online briefing on August 13, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“As of yesterday evening [August 12], 56 citizens of Ukraine applied to Ukraine's Embassy in Lebanon for financial assistance after their houses were damaged and they sustained bodily injuries in the explosion. The embassy has already paid a one-time financial aid to 16 Ukrainians," Kuleba said.

He promised that Ukrainian diplomats will not leave anyone in trouble and, as far as possible, will help all the victims.

Kuleba also confirmed the death of a Ukrainian in the Beirut explosion.

More than 200 people were killed and over 5,000 were injured in powerful explosions that rocked the Lebanese capital on the evening of August 4. The massive blast was caused by the detonation of 2,750 tonnes of ammonium nitrate stored unsafely at the port for years.

The huge blast damaged buildings in a radius of several kilometres in Beirut, leaving more than 300,000 people homeless or living in homes with no windows or doors.

The Lebanese government resigned on August 10.
