Foreign Ministry: Two Ukrainian citizens detained in Minsk

Ukrainian citizens Kostiantyn Reutsky and Yevhen Vasylyev were detained in Minsk, the capital of Belarus.

"Two Ukrainian citizens, Kostiantyn Reutsky and Yevhen Vasylyev, were detained in Minsk at about 17:00 on August 12," Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine posted on Twitter.

The Embassy of Ukraine in Belarus takes measures to establish the place and conditions of detention of Reutsky and Vasylyev.

As reported, presidential election was held in Belarus on August 9. According to preliminary results announced by the Central Election Commission, incumbent President Alexander Lukashenko garnered 80.23% of the vote, while opposition candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya got 9.90%.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus, about six thousand people were detained during the three days of protests in the country. At least one person was killed. According to official data, more than 200 injured persons were taken to hospital.

Svetlana Tikhanovskaya was forced to leave Belarus. Currently, she stays in Lithuania.
