Four Ukrainian pharmaceutical companies testing drugs to treat COVID-19

Four Ukrainian pharmaceutical companies are testing drugs to treat coronavirus disease (COVID-19), according to a statement posted on the website of the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council (NSDC).

"JSC Farmak, PJSC Research and Industrial Center Borschahivka Chemical and Pharmaceutical Plant, LLC Biopharma Plasma and ALC InterChem are conducting clinical trials of drugs for the treatment of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), including symptomatic treatment," the statement reads.

According to the State Expert Center of the Ministry of Health, clinical trials of four drugs to treat COVID-19 have been registered in Ukraine to date – Amizon® Max (manufactured by JSC Farmak), Amixin® ІС (Interchem), Corvitin® (Borschahivka Chemical and Pharmaceutical Plant), and Bioven (Biopharma Plasma).

All these drugs are registered in Ukraine, so they are allowed for use and have long been known, but the instructions for their use do not contain information on the treatment of COVID-19, the NSDC said.

"Ukraine has a sufficient number of highly professional specialists and pharmaceutical companies capable of creating the necessary drugs and vaccines to treat COVID-19," NSDC Secretary Oleksiy Danilov said.
