More than 60% of Ukrainians believe that the economic situation in Ukraine has deteriorated over the past six months, a quarter think it has not changed, and only 8% have seen improvement, according to a survey taken by the Rating sociological group on July 15-20.

"More than 60% believe that the economic situation in Ukraine has deteriorated over the past six months, a quarter think it has not changed, and only 8% have noticed improvement. At the same time, sentiment about the future is more optimistic: 17% believe that the economic situation in Ukraine will improve, 35% believe it will not change, and 40% expect it to worsen. However, in the long run, the percentage of those expecting improvement is falling, while the feeling of hope (26%) among the population is declining, and frustration remains the most commonly held sentiment (43%)," the report said.

Most respondents viewed the cause of a possible economic crisis as the incompetence of the authorities, although a quarter believe that the economic decline will occur due to coronavirus.

In general, according to the survey, 19% believe that things in Ukraine are going in the right direction, and 68% hold the opposite opinion.

The survey was conducted among the population of Ukraine aged 18 years and over in all regions, except for the temporarily occupied territories of Crimea and Donbas. A total of 2,000 respondents were interviewed. The poll's margin of error does not exceed 2.2%.
