Red Cross sends tonne of electrodes to repair water pipelines of Siversky Donets-Donbas canal

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Ukraine donated a tonne of electrodes for performing welding works on the main water pipelines of the Siversky Donets-Donbas canal, damaged as a result of hostilities.

The public utility company Voda Donbasa expressed its gratitude to the ICRC, the company’s press service reported on July 27.

On July 26, 2020, repair and restoration works were completed on two main water pipelines of the Siversky Donets-Donbas canal, which were damaged as a result of shelling near the village of Shumy.

The Siversky Donets-Donbas canal is an artificial canal in Donetsk region of Ukraine, built in the late 50s of the 20th century. This is a power-type water supply canal (water movement is provided by pumping stations).

The company Voda Donbasa provides water supply services to consumers in 289 towns and villages, and water disposal services to consumers in 79 cities and towns in the Donetsk region.
