Almost 8,000 medical workers in Ukraine already contracted coronavirus

Health Minister Maksym Stepanov said this at a briefing on Monday, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"During the entire period of the pandemic, 59,493 people have fallen ill, including 4,204 children and 7,985 healthcare workers," Stepanov stressed.

Over the past day, coronavirus cases were confirmed among 27 health workers and 34 children. Some 134 people were hospitalized.

The highest number of COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours was recorded in Lviv region (115), Zakarpattia region (86), and Kyiv city (77).

Stepanov recalled that compliance with simple rules - mask regime, social distance, and the use of antiseptics - will help avoid contracting COVID-19.

As reported, Ukraine's total cases of COVID-19 reached 59,493 as of July 20, including 651 new cases confirmed in the previous day.
