UWC thanks Ukrainian communities around the world for protecting Ukrainian language

"Today, Ukrainians around the world are uniting to defend the Ukrainian language. We thank all Ukrainian communities in Australia, Europe, Canada, and the United States for their support of the UWC's position and for their active opposition to systemic attacks on the Ukrainian language,” the UWC wrote on its Facebook page on July 16.

The UWC noted that "on the 30th anniversary of the adopting of the Declaration of State Sovereignty, the words "sovereignty" and "independence" acquire a new significance and we must once again unite in defence of Ukrainian statehood, the basis of which is language."

As Ukrinform reported earlier, the UWC condemned attacks on the Ukrainian language and strongly opposed "russification" proposals included in the provocative draft law №2362, which could create a potential divide in the Ukrainian society.
