The UN intends to implement gender-related projects in Ukraine with a total funding of $2.1 million as part of the Emergency Response Plan for the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Today, a roundtable was held with the participation of the leadership of the UN-Women Executive Board and the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, during which they announced plans to implement a number of gender-related projects worth $2.1 million in Ukraine," Ukraine's Permanent Representative to the UN Sergiy Kyslytsya told Ukrinform.

The diplomat added that these initiatives are primarily aimed at countering the spread of coronavirus among the most vulnerable categories of women and girls, including internally displaced persons; improving social protection; combating violence; and women's empowerment. Implementation of the projects is scheduled for July 2020 - December 2021.
