Ukraine has received a batch of OMVIR medicine as humanitarian aid from the Republic of India.

The donation ceremony took place at the Ministry of Health of Ukraine on July 13, the press service of the Ministry of Health reports.

“Ukraine is very grateful for the humanitarian aid of 50,000 OMVIR pills. This medicine is included in the national treatment protocol, and our hospitals dealing with treatment of coronavirus patients are looking forward to obtaining it. This batch will be enough to treat about 5,000 patients," said Deputy Health Minister Ihor Ivashchenko.

Ambassador of the Republic of India to Ukraine Partha Satpathy pointed out the possibility of additional supplies of the medicine. "Health care is a matter of national security. When we received a request from Ukraine, we decided to help. If it [the medicine] proves useful to you, we are ready to help more," Partha Satpathy said.

As the Health Ministry noted, OMVIR medicine contains 75 mg of Oseltamivir Phosphate as an active ingredient and is included in the Ukrainian COVID-19 treatment protocol.
