The Crimean Tatar flag has been solemnly raised on the flagpole near the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine in Kyiv.

The flag was raised by Foreign Minister of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba, Chairman of the Mejlis of Crimean Tatar People Refat Chubarov, and Crimean Tatar people's leader Mustafa Dzhemilev, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“We raise on flagpoles the flags that are of special importance to us, to Ukraine, and the flag of the Crimean Tatar people is one of such flags. I want to assure everyone that the issue of protecting the rights of Crimean Tatars, who have stayed in the illegally occupied Crimea, the issue of de-occupation of Crimea will always be a priority for the Foreign Ministry, and we will not stop until we win, until this flag we raise today, is raised along with the Ukrainian flag in all cities, populated localities of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol,” Kuleba said at a solemn ceremony.

According to him, the Crimean Tatar flag today is raised symbolically not only in Kyiv, but everywhere in the world where Ukraine is present, as evidence that Crimea remains in the thoughts and actions of Ukrainian diplomats every day.

Chubarov, in turn, noted that honoring of the Crimean Tatar national flag by the Ukrainian state and Ukrainian society shows respect for the history of the indigenous people of Crimea and gives confidence to all citizens of Ukraine living in the temporarily occupied Crimea in the restoration of Ukraine's state sovereignty over Crimea.

"I am sure that the day will definitely come when the state flag of Ukraine will fly over the whole of Crimea again, and next to it - the Crimean Tatar flag as the official flag of the Crimean Tatar national-territorial autonomy within the Ukrainian state," Chubarov said.

As reported, Ukraine celebrates the Crimean Tatar Flag Day annually on June 26.
