The National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU) recorded four incidents of physical aggression against media workers in May and a total of 30 incidents involving the use of force against journalists in the first five months of 2020.

These are the results of the monitoring entitled "The Index of Physical Safety of Journalists of Ukraine," which the NUJU conducts together with partner NGOs, the NUJU's press service reported.

"Three of them [attacks] are related to the filming of compliance with lockdown restrictions. In total, 30 incidents of the use of force against media professionals were recorded in the first five months of 2020," the report said.

The NUJU said that a high level of aggression towards media workers is outrageous and makes the profession of a journalist dangerous at both the national and regional levels.

The Index of Physical Safety of Journalists of Ukraine is monthly monitoring of physical aggression against journalists in Ukraine.
