Ukraine receives batch of hydroxychloroquine tablets from India
The solemn ceremony was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine on Tuesday, May 5, according to the Ministry’s press service.
"This is a true gesture of friendship on the part of the Indian people and the Government of India. This step strengthens the partnership between our countries and demonstrates that India and Ukraine are able to jointly counter global challenges," Kuleba said.
The parties emphasized that the interaction of Ukraine and India in the pharmaceutical industry demonstrated high growth dynamics.
In addition, a batch of typhoid, meningitis, cholera and malaria vaccines for the Ukrainian peacekeeping contingent also arrived in Ukraine as part of Indian humanitarian aid.
Thanks to the efforts of Ukrainian diplomacy, the Government of India also granted special permission to purchase hydroxychloroquine for the needs of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
Further distribution of a batch of 30,000 hydroxychloroquine tablets among Ukrainian medical institutions and control of their use will be carried out by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
As known, hydroxychloroquine has been identified by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as a possible treatment for the COVID-19 and it is being tested on more than 1,500 coronavirus patients in New York.
